Each year, families, local businesses, and community supporters come together through the Band-Aid Fundraiser to support youth mental health and youth music development in our community.
The Band-Aid Fundraiser is an annual community event that raises meaningful funds for the School of Rock Markham House Band, an audition-selected group of talented student musicians, ages 14 to 18, making their summer tour and other high-quality performance opportunities possible while building confidence, resilience, and teamwork. A portion of the proceeds also supports the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation's ATLAS Program, which provides vital mental health services for youth in our community.
Dedicated young musicians making a difference in their community.
The current School of Rock Markham House Band is a group of highly talented student musicians, ranging in age from 14 to 18, selected by audition at School of Rock Markham. They perform regularly at community events, including the Markham, Stouffville, and Unionville Santa Claus Parades, the Markham Village Music Festival, Stouffville Strawberry Festival, fundraising events, and more.
The Markham House Band has played throughout Ontario and tours every summer, performing with several other House Bands from other School of Rock locations. Public performances encourage the students to learn about all aspects of musical performance, and allow the band to contribute their time, talent, and energy to their community.
School of Rock Markham House Band members have been given the opportunity to play at some of the greatest venues in the world, including The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Lincoln Hall in Chicago, Summerfest (the world's largest music festival) in Milwaukee, the Hard Rock Resort in Punta Cana and Morey's Pier in Wildwood New Jersey, just to name a few.
Adolescent Treatment and Learning Alternate Service
A portion of the proceeds from Band-Aid benefit Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH), specifically child and adolescent mental health care through the ATLAS Program.
ATLAS is designed for teens aged 12โ18 struggling with severe anxiety and/or depression who have significant difficulty attending or succeeding at school.
Run in collaboration with the York Region District School Board, the program combines group therapy with a positive academic experience to equip teens with the skills and strategies they need for their mental health journey.
